Living Waters provides English medium education from early years through secondary level, creating wider opportunities for higher education and employment, where English proficiency is often required. For many families in Mwanza, access to English medium schooling is limited by cost.
With over 600 students successfully graduated from the Primary School since its incorporation, Living Waters remains committed to affordability, with fees approximately 70% lower than most private English medium schools in Mwanza.
To ease the financial burden on families, two meals every working day are cooked on campus and served to all students. In addition, essential textbooks and learning materials are provided by the school, ensuring that every child can fully participate in the learning process
Over the years, Living Waters has provided consistent care to children during some of the most important stages of their lives. Most children join the home at a young age and grow up within a stable routine of meals, study, and shared living. Donations have been used responsibly to ensure continuous provision of shelter, food, and daily needs. This steady environment has helped children grow with a sense of security and belonging.
Access to uninterrupted education has been a key outcome of the Children’s Home. Since its establishment, 12 children have successfully completed primary school while living at the Home. Donations have supported school fees, uniforms, books, and learning needs, ensuring that children remain in school and progress steadily. Many who began with limited academic exposure have been able to catch up and perform at expected levels over time.
The long-term approach of the home has enabled children to move beyond basic education. So far, 6 students have completed secondary school and progressed to college-level education. This reflects a continued investment in each child’s future. By supporting children through their formative years, Living Waters has helped them transition from early vulnerability to more independent and stable paths in adulthood.
Devotha came to Living Waters as a young girl in need of care and stability. She grew up in the Cairos Home for girls, receiving consistent support through her formative years. Over time, she completed her education and gradually stepped into responsibility within the same community that raised her.
Today, she continues to live on campus and serves as a kindergarten teacher at the Living Waters Primary School. Alongside teaching, she also takes on the role of a social worker and mentor to the girls in the home. Her journey reflects a full cycle of care, where a child once supported by the home now contributes to it with commitment and understanding.
Benard joined Living Waters at a young age, coming from a difficult background. In his early years at the Home, he struggled with behaviour and discipline, and this continued for some time. With consistent guidance, structure, and support, he gradually began to change direction.
Over the years, Benard completed his education and grew into a responsible role within the institution. Today, he serves as the Academic Coordinator at the Living Waters Secondary School. He was married last year with the support of the Living Waters community and remains closely connected to the home. Benard now mentors the boys, offering guidance shaped by his own journey and experience.
Living Waters hosts regular prayer meetings at Shiloh: House of the Lord, that are open to the wider community. These gatherings provide a simple and consistent space for reflection, prayer, and shared participation every Monday. People from different backgrounds are welcome to join, creating an environment of openness and continuity in spiritual practice.
Outreach activities are carried out through regular visits and engagement with nearby communities. These efforts focus on building relationships, offering support where needed, and staying connected with everyday realities. The approach is practical and consistent, based on presence and trust rather than one-time efforts.
Participation in programs and activities at Living Waters is voluntary and open to all. Individuals, families, and visitors can choose to engage in areas where they feel comfortable, whether through prayer meetings, teaching support, or community interaction. This flexible approach allows for meaningful involvement without obligation.
